Online Workshop - Sturminster Mill Watercolour
Sturminster Newton Mill is a working Mill that attracts artists from far and wide and is delightful at any season of the year to paint and sketch, our watercolour painting is full of colour and light. It will help you learn how to capture the essence and subtle details of buildings in watercolour as well as painting water and it’s reflections when it’s surrounded by buildings, trees and other details.
In this Online Watercolour Workshop Claire uses her pen sketch as her reference material and has chosen a summer theme and colour palette. Painting from the grassy foreground, towards the reflection of the Mill in the water, with white railings on the walkway over the rushing water it creates relief against the dark underside of the mass of colourful trees behind. We also have the sun catching the front face of the Mill and the tops of the rood, contrasting the dark shadows creating a good 3D effect.
This online watercolour workshop is one of our longer workshops, as it covers so much details but is suitable for all levels of artist.
